SECTION 12 -18; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.005 REPEAL- <br />ING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JUNE -1, 1978." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, and seconded by Mayor Malone <br />for adoption of the ordinance. Motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay. Councilman Philley <br />voting nay. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented a request for water service in the "gray area" from <br />Billy Malone on F.M. Road 1497, and recommended its approval. A motion was made by <br />Councilman Wunsch, and seconded by Councilman Fisher approving the request. Motion <br />carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Sokoll presented a request from Sammy Leverett for water service in the <br />"gray area" for property located on Cope Drive.. A notion was made by Councilman <br />Burnett, and seconded by Mayor Malone for approval of the request. Motion carried <br />7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Councilman Williams called for reading of an ordinance appointing the Board of <br />Equalization. Ordinance No. 2387 <br />"AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THREE MEMBERS TO THE EQUALIZATION BOARD OF <br />THE CITY OF P,",RIS, PARIS, TEXAS, TO SERVE FOR THE CURRENT TAXABLE <br />YEAR, ESTABLISHING THE TIME FOR THE FIRST MEETING OF THE EQUALIZATION <br />BOARD, ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF PAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF SAID BOARD, <br />AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE." <br />was presented. Councilman Wunsch stated that he wished to abstain from voting; <br />because of conflict of interest. A motion was made by Councilman Farris and <br />seconded by Councilman Philley for adoption of the ordinance. Motion carried 6 <br />ayes, 0 nays, I abstaining. <br />Councilman Williams asked for volunteers for appointment as a committee member to the <br />City School Committee. There were no volunteers at this time. <br />City Manager Sokoll requested consideration of a Resolution authorizing the Mayor <br />to execute a contract between the United States of America and City of Paris for <br />water storage -space #2 in Pat Mayse Dam and Resevoir. <br />Resolution No. 1861 authorizing and directing the Mayor to execute on behalf of the <br />City of Paris the contract for water storage space at Pat Mayse Lake with the <br />United States of America was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch and <br />seconded by Mayor Malone for adoption of the resolution. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
