SECTION 12 -18; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $200.005 REPEAL- ING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JUNE -1, 1978." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Burnett, and seconded by Mayor Malone for adoption of the ordinance. Motion carried 6 ayes, 1 nay. Councilman Philley voting nay. City Manager Sokoll presented a request for water service in the "gray area" from Billy Malone on F.M. Road 1497, and recommended its approval. A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch, and seconded by Councilman Fisher approving the request. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. City Manager Sokoll presented a request from Sammy Leverett for water service in the "gray area" for property located on Cope Drive.. A notion was made by Councilman Burnett, and seconded by Mayor Malone for approval of the request. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. Councilman Williams called for reading of an ordinance appointing the Board of Equalization. Ordinance No. 2387 "AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING THREE MEMBERS TO THE EQUALIZATION BOARD OF THE CITY OF P,",RIS, PARIS, TEXAS, TO SERVE FOR THE CURRENT TAXABLE YEAR, ESTABLISHING THE TIME FOR THE FIRST MEETING OF THE EQUALIZATION BOARD, ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF PAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF SAID BOARD, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE." was presented. Councilman Wunsch stated that he wished to abstain from voting; because of conflict of interest. A motion was made by Councilman Farris and seconded by Councilman Philley for adoption of the ordinance. Motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays, I abstaining. Councilman Williams asked for volunteers for appointment as a committee member to the City School Committee. There were no volunteers at this time. City Manager Sokoll requested consideration of a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute a contract between the United States of America and City of Paris for water storage -space #2 in Pat Mayse Dam and Resevoir. Resolution No. 1861 authorizing and directing the Mayor to execute on behalf of the City of Paris the contract for water storage space at Pat Mayse Lake with the United States of America was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch and seconded by Mayor Malone for adoption of the resolution. Motion carried 7 ayes, 0 nays.
