Mayor Brunette declared the Public Hearing open on the proposed budget pre- <br />sented by the City Manager for the fiscal year 1974 -75. <br />Mr. Ben Taack appeared before the Council expressing opposition to the pe- <br />tition under consideration by the Council for a $3,000 homestead exemption <br />for 65 years of age or older persons. <br />City Manager Sweatt revieried the estimated Revenues and proposed Expendi- <br />tures for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1974. <br />After discussion, Ordinance No. 2191: <br />"AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING A BUDGET FOR THE ENSUING FISCAL <br />YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 19742 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 1975, <br />IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />APPROPRIATING THE VARIOUS AMOUNTS THEREOF AND REPEAL- <br />ING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT <br />TI- IEREWITH, " <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by <br />Councilman Whitaker that the Ordinance be adopted. The motion carried: 7 <br />ayes, O nays. <br />Resolution No. 1617, authorizing Mayor Jaynes M. Brunette to execute a quit <br />claim deed to Lots 6 and 7, Block 8, Neagle Addition, was presented. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman Hutchison <br />that the Resolution be adopted. The motion carried; 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
