RVA <br />City Manager Sweatt presented a request from the Northeast Texas Solid <br />Waste Board of Directors for funding to cover basic administration costs. <br />The request was for $1,000, distributed between the three counties, <br />Delta, Red River, and Lamar, with City of Paris being apportioned $423.882 <br />based on population, Councilman Icing stated that he doubted that fu- <br />"ture costs would be fair and equitable if proportioned on population base. <br />City Manager Sweatt stated that this division would not necessarily be <br />used for cost apportionment of the solid waste operation. After discus- <br />sion, a motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman <br />Whitaker that the City furnish funding in the amount of $423.88 to the <br />Solid Waste Authority. The motion carried: 7 ayes, O nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt advised the Council that the City of Paris Alley <br />Committee had received a petition for closing and abandonment of an alley <br />between 15th Street S. E. and 17th Street S. E., between East Washington <br />and East Polk Streets, and stated further that the petition had been <br />signed by all property owners abutting the alley; that all utility com- <br />panies had been contacted and that no utility lines were involved. Af- <br />ter discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by <br />Councilman Moore that the report be received and the City Attorney be <br />instructed to prepare an ordinance for the next Regular Council Meeting. <br />The motion carried: 7 ayes,.O nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to receive bids on vehicular <br />equipment contained in the 1974 -1975 Budget, including a backhoe, a <br />vacuum and sewer cleaning truck, street sweeper, and a crawler tractor <br />for the landfill. The motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded <br />by Councilman King that bids be received on September 4, 1974, 10 :00 A.M., <br />and presented to the Council at its meeting on September 9, 1974. The mo- <br />tion carried: 7 ayes, O nays. <br />City.Manager Sweatt presented a request from Kenneth Roe for water service <br />outside the City Limits on F. M. #79. The motion was made by Councilman <br />Rainey and seconded by Councilman phi.taker that the request be approved <br />under the customary policy of the City for the property owner to pay all <br />costs of construction and that double water rates be applied. The motion <br />carried: 7 ayes, O nays. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to contract with Southwestern <br />Bell Company for service equipment and advised that the contract would be <br />made prior to August 1, 1974, at which time a price increase would become <br />effective. The motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Coun- <br />cilman Stone that the request be granted, The motion carried: 7 ayes, <br />0 nays, <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MAYOR J, M, BRUNETTE <br />ATTEST: H.
