'O Resolution No. 1626, supporting the Ark -Tex Council of Governments crime prevention program and appointing Kerry R. Sweatt, City Manager, as local representative to assist in their accomplishment of the project, was pre- sented. A motion was made by Councilman Hutchison and seconded by Council- man Moore that the Resolution be adopted. The motion carried: 5 ayes, Q nays. RESOLUTION NO. 1626 . WHEREAS, the Governor of the State of Texas will, during the calendar years of 1974 and 1975, conduct a crime prevention program throughout our great State in an effort to reduce the number of property crimes plaguing the citizens of Texas and to reduce some of the tre- mendous economic loss caused. by burglary, theft and robbery within the State during the past several years; and, WHEREAS, the goals and purposes of a region wide sustained effort of crime prevention in the Ark -Tex Region will be beneficial to the citizens of. Paris and is supported by the City Council of the City of Pari s; and, . WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Division of the State of Texas has made funds available for assistance in the creation of a crime prevention unit to serve the nine County Ark -Tex Region in support of the Governor's crime prevention program; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, That the Ark -Tex Council of Governments be and the same is hereby authorized to make application on behalf of the City of Paris and the Ark -Tex Region for assistance in the creation of a crime prevention unit- to serve said Region. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Kerry R. Sweatt, City Manager of the City of Paris, is hereby designated local representative to assist in the accomplishment of the project.
