Minute No. 65668 - Continued <br />It is understood that the City may discharge its construction <br />obligations as outlined herein in any manner as they may elect. In the <br />event the City desires the State to include their portion bf the work in <br />the State's construction contract, the State Highway Engineer is hereby <br />authorized to enter into agreement with the City for such work and its <br />cost as may be agreed upon. <br />This Order shall become operative upon acceptance by the City <br />of Paris and if not accepted within 90 days of the date hereof, the action <br />herein contained shall be automatically cancelled. <br />Minute No. 65668 <br />December 1, 1971 <br />COPY <br />"EXHIBIT A" <br />0 <br />City Manager Sweatt presented a petition received by his Office requesting <br />exemption of at least $3,000 assessed value of real estate for tax purposes <br />for persons 65 years of age or older, and advised the Council that certifica- <br />tion had been made by the City Clerk that the petition contained at least <br />2015 of the names of registered voters who voted in the last City Election. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by <br />Councilman Stone to table the matter, and for the City Staff to investigate <br />and make recommendations on the petition. The motion carried: 7 ayes, O. <br />nays. <br />Mrs. June Preston, along with twelve interested persons present in the audience, <br />appeared before the Council proposing a tree removal ordinance. After dis- <br />cussion, Mayor Brunette appointed a committee to work with the Tree Committee, <br />composed of Councilman Stone and Councilman witaker. <br />City Manager Sweatt presented a request from Mr. Charles Cass, Cass Ambu- <br />lance Service, for the elimination of the present $10,000 bond requirement <br />in the existing contract between the Cass Ambulance Service, City of Paris, <br />and Lamar County, and recommended that the request be approved. After <br />discussion, a motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Council- <br />man %1hitaker that the request to eliminate the $10,000 bond be approved. <br />The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays, Councilman Rainey abstaining. <br />A motion was then made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman <br />Whitaker that the City Manager be authorized to execute a release of a <br />$10,000 Certificate of Deposit representing Cash Bond of the Cass Ambulance <br />Service. The motion carried: 6 ayes, O nays, Councilman Rainey abstaining. <br />City ,tanager Sweatt requested authorization to publish legal notice grant- <br />ing an opportunity for interested persons to request a Public Hearing re- <br />garding airport improvements at Cox Field, such improvements to be partly <br />financed by an F. F. A. grant. The motion was made by Councilman Rainey <br />and seconded by Councilman Moore that the request be approved. The motion <br />carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
