J � <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL & COMMISSIONERS COURT <br />April 21, 1975 <br />Mayor James Brunett and County Judge, Lester Crutchfield called the special <br />joint meeting of the City Council and the Commissioner Court to order at <br />5:15 P.M., April 21, 1975 with the following City Officials present: Doyle <br />Whitaker, Brad Hutchison, W. M. (Dub) Moore, Joe King, Lloyd S. Sterling, Sam <br />Stone. Also present were City Manager, K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Hayes, <br />and City Clerk, H. C. Greene. Also present representing Lamar County were the <br />following Commissioners: Jimmy Sparks, Doyle Childers, Pete Patterson, James <br />Pease, and County Auditor, L..C. Johnson, and County Clerk, Jean Brown. <br />Player Brunette announced that the joint session was held for the purpose of <br />considering bids for ambulance service for the City of Paris and Lamar County. <br />Player Brunette announced that three bids had been received and - invited <br />representatives of each bidder to make a statement before the-Council and <br />the Court. <br />City Manager Sweatt.gave a brief summary of the bids received which included <br />the North East Texas Emergency Service, $80,000.00 annually, subject to deviated <br />rate charges; Cass Ambulance Service $84,000.00 annually, with base rates and <br />additional milage charges over present with a negotiable $24,000.00 coronary <br />care unit; and Bexar County Ambulance Service $162,000.00 annually with local <br />government retaining responsibility for charges and collection. <br />Mr. Grady Ward representing North East Texas Emergency Service appeared before <br />the Council stating that his Firm had been in operation eighteen months in <br />Clarksville, Texas; that they proposed to have seven men on duty in Paris <br />with three Ambulance units and that his personnel cound provide Paramedic <br />Service in October 1975. <br />Mr. Mike Cass appeared before the Council on behalf of the Cass Ambulance Service. <br />Mr. Lane of the Bexar County Ambulance Service also appeared before the Council. <br />After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by <br />Commissioner Sparks the bids be received and tabled for further study. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />At -the -su_ggestion of he Council and Court a comm -ittee be appointed, Mayor <br />Brunette appointed Councilman Hutchison and Councilman bdhitaker to serve on —a <br />committee to study the ambulance service bids along with two Commissioners <br />appointed by Judge Crutchfield. <br />City Manager Sweatt requested authorization to receive bids for Maxey Museum <br />restoration project at 10:00 A.M., June 4, 1975 with tabulation and presentation <br />to the Council at its regular meeting on June 9, 1975. Motion was made by <br />Councilman King seconded by Councilman Hutchison the request be approved. Motion <br />Carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution No. 1681, concerning Council of Governments Manpower program was <br />presented. Motion by Councilman Sterling seconded by Councilman Stone the <br />Resolution be approved. Motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
