324 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL AND COMMISSIONERS COURT <br />May 6, 1975 <br />Mayor James M. Brunette and County Judge Lester Crutchfield called the Special <br />Joint Meeting of the City Council and the Commissioners Court to order at 5:15 P. M., <br />May 6, 1975 with the following Councilmen present: Doyle Whitaker, Brad Hutchi- <br />son, W. M. (Dub) Moore, Joe King, Lloyd Sterling, and Sam M. Stone. Also present <br />were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes,, and City Clerk H. C. <br />Greene. Those present representing Lamar County were the following Commissioners: <br />Jimmy Sparks, Doyle Childers, Pete Patterson, and James Peace as we'll as County <br />Auditor L. C. Johnson and County Clerk Jean Brown. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the joint session was held for the purpos`e-of hearing <br />recommendations of the committee appointed of City Councilmen and County Commissioners <br />to study bids received for ambulance service for the ensuing two years. <br />Mayor Brunette called for the recommendation, and Commissioner Patterson announced <br />that the unanimous recommendation of his committee was as follows: <br />Reject all bids for ambulance service as presented to the Council and <br />Commissioners Court on April 21, 1975 and re- advertise for bids with <br />the following specifications being included: <br />Charges per patient /per call: <br />a. From $15.00 to $25.00 non - emergency service within City. <br />b. From $20.00 to $30.00 emergency service within City. <br />c. From $25.00 to $35.00 maximum charge in County <br />d. Non- emergency transportation outside County, from $15.00 <br />to $25.00 base plus 70¢ per mile instead of 60¢ per mile, <br />mileage to be determined from point of origin to point of <br />destination, one way. <br />e. Emergency transportation outside County, from $20.00 to <br />$30.00 base plus 90t per mile instead of 80� per mile, <br />mileage to be determined from point of origin to point <br />of destination, one way. <br />Councilman King commented that he would like to see the Fire Department of the City <br />of Paris operate the ambulance service. City Manager Sweatt recited cost estimates <br />for the City of.Paris to operate the service. <br />After further discussion, a motion was made by Commissioner Sparks and seconded by <br />Councilman Hutchison to accept the recommendations of the committee. The motion <br />carried: 9 ayes, 2 nays, Councilman King and Councilamn Stone voting nay. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Hutchison and seconded by Councilman Moore that bids <br />be received until 5:15 P. M., May 23, 1975, and that a Special Joint Meeting of the <br />City Council and Commissioners Court be called for 5:15 P. M., May 23, 1975 for the <br />'� purpose of opening and considering such bids. The motion carried unanimously. <br />
