357 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL AND COMMISSIONERS COURT May 23, 1975 Mayor James M. Brunette and County Judge Lester Crutchfield called the Special Joint Meeting of the City Council and the Commissioners Court to order at 5:15 P. M., May 23, 1975 at -the District Court Room, with the following Councilmen present: Brad Hutchison, W. M. (Dub) Moore, and Lloyd Sterling. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, City Clerk -H. C. Greene, and the County Commissioners. Judge Crutchfield announced that the joint session of the City Council a -nd Commissioners Court was called for the purpose of receiving bids for ambulance service. Judge Crutchfield and Mayor Brunette called for the receipt of bids for ambulance service for a two year period, and bids were received from the Northeast Texas Emergency Service, the Bexar County Ambulance Service, and the Cass Ambulance Service, Inc. A motion was made by Councilman Moore and seconded by Commissioner Sparks to refer the bids to the committee previously appointed for their study and recommendation to the City Council and Commissioners Court at a future date. The motion carried unanimously. A motion was made by Councilman Hutchison and seconded by Councilman Moore that a special Council Meeting be called for 5:15 P. M., Wed- nesday, May 28, 1975 to receive the recommendations of the special committee appointed to study the bids for ambulance service. The motion carried unanimously. Mr. Grady Ward of the Northeast Texas Emergency Service, Mr. Charles Cass -.the Cass Ambulance Service, Inc., and Mr. Lane of the Bexar County Ambulance Service were given opportunities to make presenta- tions to the Council and Court. This being the conclusion of the combined business of the Commissioners Court and the City Council, Judge Crutchfield adjourned the Commissioner, Court, and the Commissioners departed the District Court Room. City Manager Sweatt advised the Council.that he had received a request from the Texas Highway Department that no parking designations be made for those sections of Jefferson Road under construction at this time, and recommended that the Highway Department's recommendation be accepted and that authorization be granted for the preparation of an ordinance which would appear on the. agenda for the regular Council Meeting, June, 1975. A motion was made by Councilman Hutchison and seconded by Councilman Moore that the preparation of an ordinance be authorized. The motion carried: 4 ayes, 0 nays. City Manager Sweatt presented the budget proposal for the fiscal year 1975 -76 and requested that a date be set for a public hearing. A mo- tion was made by Councilman Hutchison and seconded by Councilman Ster ling that a public hearing be called for 5:15 P. M., June 12, 1975 tc_ review the proposed budget. The motion carried: 4 ayes, 0 nays.
