359 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL JOINT MEETING OF <br />THE CITY COUNCIL AND COMMISSIONERS COURT <br />May 28, 1975 <br />Mayor James M. Brunette and Judge Lester Crutchfield called the Special Joint Meeting <br />of the City Council and the Commissioners Court to order at 5:15 P. M., May 28, 1975 <br />in the District Court Room, with the following Councilmen present: Brad Hutchison, <br />Lloyd Sterling, and Sam M. Stone. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt and - <br />City Clerk H. C. Greene. Those present representing Lamar County were the following <br />Commissioners: Jimmy Sparks, Doyle Childers, Pete Patterson, and James Peace as well <br />as County Auditor L. C. Johnson and County Clerk Jean Brown. <br />Mayor Brunette and Judge - Crutchfield announced to the Commissioners Court and City <br />Council that the special meeting was called for the purpose of hearing the report and <br />recommendations of the committee appointed to study the bids received for ambulance <br />service for two year period. <br />Commissioner Patterson, acting as spokesman for the committee, gave the following <br />report and recommendations: <br />1. The committee recommends that the bid of the Cass Ambulance <br />Service, Inc. in the amount of $132,000.00.subsidy, covering <br />a two year period ($66,000.00 per year) be approved; <br />2. The committee recommends that a permanent board be appointed <br />of members of the Commissioners Court and the City Council <br />to receive grievances, complaints, and recommendations <br />concerning the ambulance service. <br />Mayor Brunette called for a motion to receive the recommendations of the committee <br />and to incorporate as a part of the minutes. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman Sterling to receive <br />the recommendations of the committee. The motion carried unanimously.- <br />Discussion was had on the recommendation of-the committee to establish a grievance <br />board after which a motion was made by Councilman Hutchison and seconded by Council- <br />man Stone to appoint a joint committee of City Councilmen and Court Commissioners <br />to study and make recommendations concerning a grievance board after consultation with <br />the city manager and the county judge. The motion carried unanimously. <br />Mayor Brunette appointed Councilman Whitaker and Councilman Stone to serve on the <br />study committee. <br />Concerning the first recommendation of the committee, a motion was made by Councilman <br />Stone and seconded by Commissioner Peace to accept the recommendation of the committee <br />and approve the bid in the amount of $66,000.00 annually under the terms of the <br />specifications and bid dated May 23, 1975 of the Cass Ambulance Service, Inc. The <br />motion carried unanimously. <br />There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. <br />MAYOR JAMES 11. BRUNETTE <br />
