638 <br />MINUTES OF,THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />February 9, 1976 <br />The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held on February 9, 1976 at 7:00 P. M. <br />at the Municipal Court Building, 811 Bonham Street. The meeting was called to <br />order by Mayor James M. Brunette with the following. Councilmen present: W. M. (Dub) <br />Moore, Joe King, Lloyd Sterling, Sam M. Stone, and O. L. Rainey. Also present were <br />City Manager K. R. Sweatt and City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend Johnny Irish, First United Methodist Church. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes as <br />furnished them embers of the Council. There being none, the minutes were approved.. <br />Mayor Brunette.announeed that the first order of business'would be recommendations <br />rude by the Planning and Zoning Commission at-its meeting held on February 2s 1976. <br />Mayor Brunette declared:the public hearing open on thre'petition of Jack Steed for a <br />change in zoning from a One4amily Dwelling District No. 2 to.a. Neighborhood Service <br />`District on Lot 4, City Block 195,.16cated at.155 23rd N. W. 'The Planning and. Zoning <br />Commission had recommended that -the petition be denied. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear,.and Mr. Jack Steed appeared before the <br />Council,-stating that he proposed to build a 16' x -18' building in.the rear of his - <br />property for use as a one chair beauty shop with off - street parking for three-cars.. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and Mr. Rol Io Watson and Mr. Wylie <br />McIntire appeared in opposition to the petition. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and an ordinance providing for <br />the zoning change was presented. A motion was made by.:Councilman Stone and seconded <br />by Councilman Sterling to deny the petition and.to defeat the ordinance. The mo- <br />tion carried: 6 ayes, O nays. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the petition of'the Southwestern <br />Bell Telephone Company for a change in zoning from a Commercial District to a Com- <br />mercial District and Specific Use Permit - Private Utility Storage Area and Shop on <br />part of Lot 4, City Block 281, located on the west side of 17th N. E., 339 feet <br />south of Clement Road. , The Planning and Zoning Commission had recommended approval of <br />the petition. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and Mr. Don McLaughlin, Attorney' <br />appeared in behalf of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company and stated that the company <br />intended to build and operate a service and storage area: <br />Mayor Brunette, tailed for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and Ordinance No. 2273: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANCING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED. <br />BY THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A COMMERCIAL DIS- <br />TRICT (C) AND A SPECIFIC.USE PERMIT, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE UTILITIES <br />I. <br />
