696 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />April 12, 1976 <br />The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held in the Municipal Court Room on <br />April 12, 1976 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor James M. Brunette called the meeting to order <br />with the following Councilmen present: Joe King, 0. L. Rainey, Sam M. Stone, Doyle <br />Whitaker, Lloyd Sterling, and W. M. (Dub) Moore. Also present were City Manager <br />K. R.' Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and acting City Clerk Jeff Holberg. <br />Prayer was offered by Captain Ron Dohman, Salvation Army. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or" corrections to the minutes of the <br />last meetings as furnished the Council members. There being none,; the minutes were <br />approved. <br />Mayor-Brunette announced that the first order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations made by the Planning and Zoning Commission at its meeting held on <br />April 5, 1976. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the petition of Luther Towers .for <br />a change in zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a Commercial District <br />on Lot 1 -B, City Block 250, located on the north side of Clement Road approximately <br />200 feet east of'North Main Street. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear and. Mr. Luther Towers appeared in his <br />behalf, stating that all property around the property in question was commercial. Mr. <br />Towers stated that he proposed to construct a metal building fronting on Clement <br />Road to be.used for a transmission shop on the.5 acres involved. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and bone appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and. Ordinance No. 2277E <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY <br />OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED <br />BY THE ZONING'MAP'OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING'_A COMMERCIAL.DIS- <br />TRICT (C) ON LOT 1B, CITY BLOCK 250, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO <br />LUTHER TOWERS, SO AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN' TERRITORY FORMERLY <br />DESIGNATED AS'A ONE- FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO 2 (SF -2); <br />AND DESIGNATING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT <br />(C) SO ESTABLISHED." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman <br />Sterling for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes,.0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the, public hearing open on the petition of Harrison & Walker <br />Construction Co. ,for a change in zoning from a Two - Family Dwelling District and Office <br />District to a Planned Development District, Community Unit Development, on a 5.19 <br />acre tract in City Block 112 -C located on Sherman Street at 14th S. E. The Planning <br />and Zoning Commission had continued the public hearing on the petition to its next <br />regular meeting on May 3, 1976. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing continued to the next regular Council <br />meeting. <br />
