1197 Regular Council Meeting <br />October 25, 2010 <br />Page 2 <br />Linda Crittenden, 615 NE 34th Street — she spoke in support of retaining Kevin Carruth <br />as City Manager. <br />Dr. Geoffrey Grubb, 295 Johnson Woods Drive — he spoke in support of retaining Kevin <br />Carruth as City Manager. <br />A.D. Thompson, 3920 Alpine — he spoke in support of retaining Kevin Carruth as City <br />Manager. <br />Mayor Biard said that he had received multiple requests to move item 33 forward on the <br />Agenda. A Motion to move item 33 forward was made by Council Member Brown and <br />seconded by Council Member Rhonda Rogers. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />33. Deliberate and possibly act on acceptance of a clock from Louise Hagood. <br />Louise Hagood told City Council that she and her family would like to donate a clock to <br />the citizens of Paris, in honor of her late husband Thomas Hagood. Mrs. Hagood said that the <br />clock would be installed at the southeast corner of the downtown plaza. She said she was going <br />to use a company in Texas to construct the clock; that the clock and installation would cost <br />approximately $25,000; and would be paid for by the Hagood family. Mrs. Hagood said the only <br />reoccurring cost would be electricity for the clock and a yearly maintenance agreement with the <br />clock company. Council Member McCarthy expressed his appreciation to Mrs. Hagood. <br />A Motion to accept the gift was made by Council Member Rhonda Rogers and seconded <br />by Council Member Brown. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />A Motion to bring items 34 and 35 forward was made by Council Member McCarthy and <br />seconded by Council Member Rhonda Rogers. Motion carried, 7 ayes — 0 nays. <br />34. Convene into Executive Session: <br />(a) Pursuant to Section 551.071 of the Texas Government Code, Consultation with <br />Attorney, to receive legal advice from the City Attorney about pending or <br />contemplated litigation and/or on matters in which the duty of an attorney to his client <br />under the Texas Disciplinary Rules of Professional Conduct of the State Bar of Texas, <br />clearly conflict with this chapter. <br />(b) Pursuant to Section 551.074 of the Texas Government Code to deliberate the <br />appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal <br />of a public officer or employee as follows: Evaluation and discussion of the <br />retention, suspension, or termination of the City Manager. <br />Mayor Biard convened City Council into executive session at 5:57 p.m. <br />
