PEDC Executive Director Steve Gilbert spoke in <br />support of this item citing that Paris Regional was going to invest 16.5 million dollars in their <br />expansion project. Connie Murchison from Paris Regional Medical Center spoke in support of <br />this item. Mayor Hashmi asked if the 753 jobs referenced were going to be new jobs. Ms. <br />Murchison said they were going to retain 753 existing jobs. Paris Regional's financial consultant <br />Leo Sierra also spoke in support of this item. Mayor Hashmi asked for anyone wishing to speak <br />in opposition of this item to please come forward. With no one else speaking, Mayor Hashmi <br />closed the public hearing. <br />A Motion to invoke the super majority rule was made by Council Member Pickle and <br />seconded by Council Member Wright. Council Member <br />Pickle asked what the timeframe was for submitting this information to the Department of <br />Justice. Mr. Bass said that the DOJ needed sixty days for their review and that the City should <br />provide a plan to the DOJ sometime in September. <br />Bob Bass explained Plan 1C. Council Member Frierson said that he was more inclined to <br />go with Plan 1 B for District 5. Council Member Wright said that he would like for District 3 to <br />be more condensed.
