Item No. 9 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Janice Ellis, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE <br />AND ASSOCIATE MUNICIPAL COURT JUDGE <br />DATE: September 3, 2015 <br />BACKGROUND: Section 27 of the Paris City Charter states the City Council shall appoint a <br />duly licensed attorney to serve as city judge for a term of two years. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: Judge Hunt has served as Municipal Court Judge since October 1985, and <br />Judge Biard has served as Associate Municipal Court Judge since July 2013. The current terms <br />for both judges will end September 30, 2015. The new term will begin October 1, 2015 and end <br />September 30, 2017. <br />BUDGET: No impact to the budget. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Re- appoint Judge Hunt to serve as Municipal Court Judge and Judge <br />Biard to serve as Associate Municipal Court Judge. <br />
