MINUTES <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br />CITY OF PARIS BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT <br />CITY OF PARIS - CITY HALL <br />COUNCIL CHAMBERS <br />PARIS, TEXAS <br />TUESDAY, MAY 12, 2015 <br />12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. <br />1. The Board ofAdjustment meeting was called to order by Rick Hundley, Chairman at 12:00 <br />p.m. <br />A. The following members were present: Rick Hundley, Jerry Haning, Bryan Glass, <br />David Hamilton and Charles Richards <br />B. The following members were absent: Nathan J. Bell, V and Marilyn Smith <br />C. Also present was Shawn Napier, Director of Engineering, Planning and <br />Development; Sue Lancaster, City Council and Ashley Fendley, City Staff. <br />2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (March 31, 201 S) <br />Motion was made by Jerry Haning, seconded by David Hamilton to approve minutes for <br />the March 31, 2015 meeting. Motion carried 5 -0. <br />3. Public hearing and consideration of and action on the petition of SCS Graphics on behalf <br />of Orr Nissan to grant a variance of Section 28 -4 (b) (3) of the Sign Ordinance which <br />provides that "Detached signs shall not exceed thirty (30) feet in height above the highest <br />adjacent roadway surface." The applicant has proposed a SO foot tall sign. The <br />maximum allowed for the sign height is 30 feet. The applicant is asking for a 20 foot <br />variance on the height of the sign. <br />Public hearing was declared open. <br />A. Three individuals spoke in favor of the petition. <br />Alex Pickering, 3317 N.E. Loop 286 Paris, Texas, spoke in favor of the petition. <br />Mrs. Pickering stated that she is here on behalf of the Orr Nissan. SCS Graphics <br />will not be installing the signs; they are only doing the leg work for Orr Nissan. <br />Mrs. Pickering further stated that Orr Nissan only manufactures certain signs for <br />their dealerships. In this case due to the location and issues with the access roads <br />Orr Nissan would really like to place a sign with the height of 50 feet on the east <br />side of the property for more visibility. <br />
