Everyone in town wishes to have more job and in particularly better paying jobs for the residents of this community Over the last many years the PEDC by the vote of the people was created as a source of support to achieve these objectives. Since I have been the Mayor there were a number of issues that were detected. The use of funds, policies and procedures etc and needless to say on questioning of this issue a lot of bad blood had been created. The purpose of doing this exercise was to ensure that public funds were being utilized in the way that should have been. The bottom line is, that the outcome of these discussion led to changes in policies and procedures that were adopted by the PEDC and resulted in significantly lowering the overhead of the organization. There however still remains some bad blood between the two organizations, with some PEDC board members trying to block even the entrance of council members to some of the sessions of the PEDC meetings, and bringing about new policies about whether non voting members should be allowed to executive sessions of the PEDC board. I feel this is contradictory to the spirit of the two organizations that have to work together for improvement of the city of Paris. With the hiring of the new Director at this point I would like to discuss with the council the future direction that the council should take.
