Robert Talley explained that Mr. Alexander was working on the <br />property after the 90 days so once he stopped working Mr. Talley brought it back <br />to the commission. Stephanie Harris Assistant City attorney said a civil suit or the <br />sale of the property can sometimes help collect the fees or a judgement lien can be <br />filed against the property. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: This property is declared a nuisance and <br />has 90 days to repair if not at the end of 90 days the City will apply a $10 <br />civil penalty per day. <br />Ken Kohls wanted to amend the recommendation to 30 days to repair if not <br />at the end of 30 days the City will apply a $10 civil penalty per day. <br />Motion was to approve the amended recommendation made by Ken Kohls, <br />seconded by Matthew Allen. Motion carried. 6 -1 with Sally McEwin <br />opposing. Sally McEwin didn't feel 30 days was enough time before starting <br />the penalty phase. <br />B. 946 Graham; City Block 51 -C, Lot 8 <br />Owner: Freedom Tabernacle Church of God in Christ 507 SE 6th Paris, TX <br />75460 -7319 <br />Taxes Owed: Churches are exempted from taxes. <br />No contact with owner but the certified letter was signed for. <br />The property is rotting and deteriorating, unsecure, holes in ceiling, leaking, and <br />ceiling tiles have fallen, wrapped and twisted roof and the foundation is sinking. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: This property is declared a nuisance and <br />has 30 days to demolish if not the City has the right to demolish and apply a <br />$1000 per day civil penalty. <br />Motion was made by Charles Richards, seconded by Ken Kohls to accept <br />Robert Talley's recommendation. Motion carried unanimously. 7 -0 <br />C. 1005 Dickson Ave; City Block 51 -B, Lot 3 <br />Owner: Lucille & Howard Corprew 1622 W Houston Paris, TX 75460 <br />Back taxes owed: $373.70 for 2015 <br />Robert Talley stated that this is a rent house, the carport is leaning, supports are <br />broken, and tree fell on it and knocked a hole in the roof. <br />Robert Talley's recommendation: This property is declared a nuisance and <br />has 30 days to demolish if not the City has the right to demolish and apply a <br />$1000 per day civil penalty. <br />Motion was made by Chad Lindsey, seconded by Sally McEwin to accept <br />Robert Talley's recommendation.
