Item No. 11 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Jerry McDaniel, Public Works Director <br />SUBJECT: STREET MATERIALS ANNUAL BID <br />DATE: February 16, 2016 <br />BACKGROUND: This is the annual bid for roadway materials to be used by the Street, Water <br />Distribution, Sewer Maintenance, and Parks Divisions. The materials competitively bid include <br />Aggregate Cover Stone (Type B, Grade 4, Uncoated); Aggregate Cover Stone (Type B, Grade 5, <br />Coated); Aggregate Cover Stone (Type B, Grade 5, Uncoated); Aggregate Cover Stone <br />(Modified, Grade 5, Uncoated); Flexible Base Material (Red Rock); Flexible Base Material <br />(White Rock); Hot Mix Cold Laid Asphalt, "Type "A" (Coarse Base) Material; Hot Mix Cold <br />Laid Asphalt, Type `B" (Fine Base) Material; Hot Mix Cold Laid Asphalt, Type "D" (Fine <br />Mixture) Material; Sand and Top Soil. <br />The following items have been rejected and will be rebid. CRS -2 Emulsion Asphalt; SS -1 <br />Emulsion Asphalt (Tack Oil); Portland Cement Concrete "Class A" (5 sack); Portland Cement <br />Concrete "Class C" (6 sack); Grout 5 sack; Grout 6 sack. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: The City of Paris Public Works Department has received sealed bids for <br />street materials and would like to award bids to the lowest bidder for each material. The bid <br />tabulation sheet is attached for details of the bids and materials, with low bids highlighted. Eight <br />vendors were directly solicited; seven vendors provided low bids for at least one material type. <br />BUDGET: Monies are budgeted in the Street, Water Distribution, Sewer Maintenance, and Park <br />Divisions. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Award bids as indicated in attachment. <br />
