RESOLUTION NO. 2016 -014 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS <br />APPROVING THE SUBMISSION BY THE PARIS POLICE DEPARTMENT OF <br />AN APPLICATION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION OF THE <br />GOVERNOR'S OFFICE FOR THE PURCHASE OF BODY WORN CAMERAS <br />AND UPGRADED COMPUTER STORAGE FOR VIDEOS; AUTHORIZING THE <br />EXECUTION OF ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR <br />ACCEPTANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF SAID GRANT UPON NOTICE <br />THEREOF; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO <br />THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office provides funding <br />for body camera grants; and, <br />WHEREAS, in keeping up with the technological demands of modern policing and to <br />further contribute to the agency's efforts to further transparency in its law enforcement <br />operations, the Paris Police Department desires to purchase body -worn cameras for its <br />patrol division; and <br />WHEREAS, under the provisions of the Texas Occupations Code Sec. 1701.652, a <br />police department of a municipality in this state may apply to the Office of the Governor for <br />such grants under a matching funds program; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris desires to apply for a body camera <br />grant under the project name "Body Cameras 2016 ", the application being attached hereto <br />as Exhibit "A ", in the amount of $39,375.00 including a cash match from the city totaling <br />$7,875.00 for procuring a minimum of 42 body cameras and the associated increase of <br />storage capacity of our servers; and, <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Texas has agreed that in the event of <br />loss or misuse of the grant funds, the City of Paris, Texas assures that the grant funds will <br />be returned in full to the Criminal Justice Division of the Governor's Office. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby <br />in all things approved. <br />Section 2. The City Manager of the City of Paris, Texas is designated as the <br />Authorized Official to apply for, accept, decline, modify, or cancel the grant application for <br />the Body Camera 2016 Grant Program and all other necessary documents to accept said <br />grant. <br />
