4/19/2016 eGrards - Project Summary (MAKE SURE YOU CLOSE THIS PAGE!!!) <br />Overall Certification <br />Each applicant agency must certify to the specific requirements detailed above as well as all requirements within the CID Funding <br />Announcement amended and CID C_omprehensrve Certification and Assurances to be eligible for this program. <br />Xi: I certify to pff of the above requirements. <br />Project Abstract : <br />This project is to equip officers with body warn vdee cameras and the sr,bsequent storage of video for use In rnm nal prosecutor a,,d <br />evaluation of officer conduct. <br />Problem Statement: <br />Recent events have cast a shadow on what off' ers do and don't do daily in the interaction with their c trzens This mistrust has eroded <br />public confidence and created barriers to positive interactions with individuals- These interactions and sharing of information is vital in <br />the ability of law enforcement to provide public safety and ser ✓ice to the community. V dFo produced by these cameras will enhance the <br />ability tc prove what took place, be it good or less than desirable police service <br />Supporting Data : <br />Recent news events have demonstrated time and time again the issues of restoring the trust betv:een the police agency and the citizens it <br />serves. We do not collect data on perception of mis trust, but unfortunately it exists. <br />Project Approach & Activities: <br />We currently have video systems in our patrol vehicles and have already made expansions to our infrastructure for additional storage of <br />video. Our approach of this project has been to make sure storage capacity and policy development have taken place to allow for the <br />success of the project. We arc: not just jumping into this project, we have considered the different issues that will arise regarding <br />storage, retrieval and recording encounters with our citizens and their privacy concerns. Policy development has taken these issues into <br />consideration <br />Capacity & Capabilities: <br />We fully intend to have the ability of storage of any video created by this project for a minimum of 90 days. We have moved on increasing <br />the storage capacity to the 'tera byte' range and will increase this storage capacity again <br />Performance Management: <br />We nave been a customer for our present video system for a number of years and are well- versed in the management of in -car video <br />storage and retrieval. Our project will continued to use the same vendo, whc has an excellent track record for keeping our system up and <br />viable. <br />Data Management: <br />Video from this project is kept on server :• inside the securec property and evidence area arid is not accessible outside of the network <br />within the police department. The departmf -nts networl, is totally segregated from the remainder of the city computer network and <br />protected by a number of firewalis.
