RESOLUTION N0. 2016 -018 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS TEXAS IN <br />SUPPORT OF DEDICATION OF A PORTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 82 FROM THE <br />4200 BLOCK OF LAMAR AVENUE IN THE CITY OF PARIS EASTWARD TO THE <br />LAMAR COUNTY LINE AS THE "TROOPER JEFFREY NICHOLS MEMORIAL <br />HIGHWAY." <br />WHEREAS, Trooper Jeffrey Nichols served Lamar County for 4 years and 2 months as a <br />Texas State Trooper; and <br />WHEREAS, Trooper Jeffrey Nichols was killed in the line of duty on March 26, 2016 while <br />serving the citizens of Lamar County; and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris wishes to honor the sacrifice, service and memory of Trooper <br />Jeffrey Nichols; and <br />WHEREAS, Lamar County and the City of Reno have approved resolutions in favor of <br />dedicating a portion of U.S. Highway 82 from the 4200 Block of Lamar Avenue in the City of Paris <br />eastward to the Lamar County line as the "Trooper Jeffrey Nichols Memorial Highway;" and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Paris wishes to support the dedication of the portion of U.S. Highway <br />82 from the 4200 Block of Lamar Avenue eastward to the Lamar County line as the "Trooper Jeffrey <br />Nichols Memorial Highway;" <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, <br />TEXAS, THAT: <br />Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all <br />things approved. <br />Section 2. The City of Paris wishes to support the dedication of the portion of U.S. Highway <br />82 from the 4200 Block of Lamar Avenue eastward to the Lamar County line as the "Trooper Jeffrey <br />Nichols Memorial Highway." <br />Section 3.
