ORDINANCE NO. 2016 -014 <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING ARTICLE II, CHAPTER 23, "CITY LAKES", OF THE PARIS CODE <br />OF ORDINANCES, BY AMENDING SECTION 23.28, CAMPING, AS <br />HERETOFORE AMENDED; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, on February 22, 2016 the City Council of the City of Paris appointed a <br />citizens' committee to provide advice related to making improvements to the park area at <br />Lake Crook; and <br />WHEREAS, said citizens' committee reported back to the City Council at its regular <br />meeting on April 11, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the recommendations of the citizens' committee was to allow <br />overnight camping at Lake Crook by permit in designated areas; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council approves of said recommendations. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, TEXAS: <br />Section 1. That the existing Section 23.28, CAMPING, of Chapter 23, "City Lakes ", <br />of the Paris Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read in whole as follows: <br />"It shall be unlawful for any person to camp overnight on the premises of Lake <br />Crook or Lake Gibbons, except with a valid permit issued by the City of Paris, and <br />within those area(s) designated for that purpose." <br />Section 2. That Chapter 23 of the City of Paris Code of Ordinances shall remain in <br />full force and effect save and except as amended by this ordinance. <br />Section 3. That the sections, paragraphs, sentences, phrases, clauses and words <br />of this ordinance are severable, and if any section, paragraph, sentence, phrase, clause or <br />word in this ordinance or application thereof to any person, firm or corporation, or to any <br />circumstance is held invalid or unconstitutional by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such <br />holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance, and the City <br />Council hereby declares that it would have adopted such remaining portions of this <br />
