Item No. 11 <br />memorandum <br />TO: City Council <br />John Godwin, City Manager <br />FROM: Randy Tuttle, Assistant Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: CHANGE SPEED ZONE <br />DATE: May 04, 2016 <br />BACKGROUND: The City of Paris Traffic Commission was forwarded a request from citizens <br />requesting the speed zone in 10 block of 2nd SE between Lamar and Clarksville be changed to 20 <br />mph for safety of the children playing in the new park. The current speed is 30 mph. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: On May 03, 2016, the Traffic Commission considered the item to change <br />the speed zone on 2nd SE to 20 mph. The Traffic Commission voted to recommend this be <br />approved. <br />BUDGET: Estimated $200.00 impact on current Traffic Department budget to make necessary <br />changes. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve change of official traffic control map to change speed zone <br />as recommended by Traffic Commission. <br />
