SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE TRAFFIC COMMISSION
DATE: June 29, 2016
BACKGROUND: Policies and Procedures for Boards, Commissions, and Committees adopted
by City Council require that appointments be made at the second regular City Council meeting in
June.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Appointments were made on June 27 and subsequently it was determined
that Ms. Tyesha Mathis was appointed to the Housing Authority to a position that required a
resident commissioner. Since that time, resident commissioner Dewayne Dangerfield has been
appointed by certificate and filed with the City Clerk. The City Clerk contacted Ms. Tyesha
Mathis and Ms. Mathis expressed her desire to serve on the Traffic Commission to fill the
vacancy on the Traffic Commission.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Ms. Tyesha Mathis to the vacancy on the Traffic Commission.

community to serve on its standing boards, commissions, and committees. In general, it is the City
Council's policy to appoint persons to a maximum of two consecutive full three -year terms on a given
body. In addition to the general qualifications listed in the certification below, other qualifications may be
mandated by statute, City Charter, ordinance, or resolution. Please complete the information requested
