Item No. 10 <br />memorandum <br />TO: Mayor & City Council <br />FROM: John Godwin, City Manager <br />SUBJECT: GRANT SUPPORT LETTER FOR SPECIAL HEALTH RESOURCES <br />DATE: July 15, 2016 <br />BACKGROUND: Special Health Resources for Texas, Inc. (SHRT) is applying for a federally - <br />funded grant for a qualified health center new access point for Paris. SHRT is headquartered in <br />Longview, and has a long experience in assisting the underserved and vulnerable population of <br />East Texas, providing primary and substance abuse services for 24 years. <br />STATUS OF ISSUE: SHRT has asked Mayor Hashmi to supply a letter of support for the <br />application, and the mayor in turn is asking the council's agreement before he supplies the letter <br />on behalf of the city. <br />BUDGET: NA. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Authorize mayor to submit letter of support for SHRT grant. <br />
