SUBJECT: GRANT SUPPORT LETTER FOR SPECIAL HEALTH RESOURCES
DATE: July 15, 2016
BACKGROUND: Special Health Resources for Texas, Inc. (SHRT) is applying for a federally -
funded grant for a qualified health center new access point for Paris. SHRT is headquartered in
Longview, and has a long experience in assisting the underserved and vulnerable population of
East Texas, providing primary and substance abuse services for 24 years.
STATUS OF ISSUE: SHRT has asked Mayor Hashmi to supply a letter of support for the
application, and the mayor in turn is asking the council's agreement before he supplies the letter
on behalf of the city.
BUDGET: NA.
RECOMMENDATION: Authorize mayor to submit letter of support for SHRT grant.
