08/17/2016 MINUTESParis Public Library Advisory Board Meeting Minutes August 17, 2016 Opening: The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:02pm by Fran Neeley. Attendance: Board members in attendance were Fran Neeley, Connie Dodd, Rebecca Umphrey, Daisy Harvill, Michelle Cowling, Denise Kornegay, and director Priscilla McAnally. Carol James was absent. Approval of Minutes: The minutes of the July meeting were unanimously approved as corrected. I. New Business: Introduction of new board member, Michelle Cowling. She has a long history of involvement in libraries and will be an asset to the Board. Building repair. Roof repair is finished, but a leak the front door was to be fixed immediately. An air conditioner had to be replaced at the cost of $9,300. Operations plan for 2017. Priscilla presented a list of goals for the library in the areas of collection development, accessibility, and art restoration. Items that are ongoing, that have been completed, and are still to be done were noted on the list. She also had a list of ten completed projects from the past few years. The Board then brainstormed a list of other possible projects for the library's long -range plan. Landscaping, especially in the front of the library Upgrade the basement Restore Davy Crockett and Paris Fire artwork Disaster and emergency plans Additional parking space II. Old Business: None III. Presentations a. Budget Report. Expenditures are on target for this year with $1,754 left in the materials budget. The 2016 -2017 budget is being developed and will be approved by the City Council soon. b. Statistical Report. Slight decreases again this month in Circulation (- 8.60 %) and Visits (- 7.04 %). Increases were in juvenile book circulation, downloadable audios, reserves, Interlibrary Loans, and Freegal Music downloads and streaming. IV. Friends of the Library: No report V. Director's Remarks: The initial payment for the new roof of $14,000 is due by October 1. Adjournment: Meeting was adjourned at 4:30pm. Submitted by Denise Kornegay
