SUBJECT: Main Street Advisory Board Replacement for Phillip Peeples

BACKGROUND: The Main Street Advisory board has a vacancy due to the resignation of
Phillip Peeples. The board met at their regularly scheduled meeting on September 13, 2016 and
discussed who they would like to see as a replacement member for Mr. Peeples. Mr. Cody Kelly
is a former Main Street Advisory board member who was serving an unexpired term in 2016. He
did reapply during the 2016 Boards and Commissions selection process by City Council,
however he was not reappointed.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Mr. Kelly continues to volunteer his time for the improvement of
downtown and is the Chairman of a subcommittee of the board leading downtown events and
promotions. The Main Street Advisory Board recognizes his commitment to downtown and the
board, and unanimously would like to recommend that he be reappointed to the board to fill the
vacancy created by Phillip Peeples. See attached letter from the Main Street Advisory Board
Chair.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Appoint Cody Kelly to the Main Street Advisory Board to fill Phillip
Peeples unexpired term.

Re: Main Street Advisory Board
Dear Mr. Godwin, Mayor Hasmi and City Council:
As you are aware, with the resignation of Phillip Peeples, there is a
vacancy on the Main Street Advisory Board (MSAB). The MSAB held a
regularly scheduled meeting yesterday and the recommendation to the
City Council for a replacement member was on the agenda.
Cody Kelly is a former MSAB member who served an unexpired term on
the board for less than a year. He was an enthusiastic member, and in
fact chaired the Promotion committee that planned and carried out two
major Main Street events, Paris, Texas Wine Fest and Movies in the Park
this year. To date, Cody continues to serve as Promotion committee chair
because he feels strongly about giving back to his community.
It is without hesitation, and with unanimous approval, that the MSAB
recommends to the City Council to appoint Cody Kelly to serve as a
member of the MSAB.
