1. The Airport Advisory Board meeting was called to order by Tim Bullock nominated
chairman by Matt Birch at 5:3Op. m.
A. The following members were present: Anna Spencer, Paula Portugal, Tim Bullock
Ray Ball and Jim Noble.
B. The following members were absent: Dennis Ashby and Matt Birch
C. Also present: John Godwin, City Manager; Jerry Richey, Airport Manager;
Stephanie Harris, City Attorney; Sue Lancaster, City Council and Ashley Fendley,
City Staff.
2. Election of Officers:
A. Chairman — Motion was made by Ray Ball to nominate Dennis Ashby. Motion
failed due to a lack of second. Motion was made by Anna Spencer, seconded by Jim
Noble to nominate Paula Portugal as Chairman. Motion carried 4 -1, with Ray Ball
casting the dissenting vote.
B. Vice - Chairman — Motion was made by Ray Ball, seconded by Jim Noble to
nominate Dennis Ashby as Vice - Chairman. Motion carried 5 -0.
3. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. (June 16, 2016)
Motion was made by Anna Spencer, seconded by Jim Noble to approve the minutes from
June 16, 2016 meeting. Motion carried 5 -0.
4. Report of all proceeds and expenses from May 14, 2016, Air Show including parking, t-
shirts sales, admissions, food vendor setup /use fees and any other miscellaneous
income%xpenses.
Gina Crawford with the Chamber of Commerce put together the report that John Godwin
passed out to the advisory board. John Godwin, City Manager stated that the money for
the Wing Over Paris event went through the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Godwin further
stated that there are three major things he wants to point out. First was the total income
$50,800.00 and the total expenses were 48,000 dollars which puts us ahead. Second is
two sponsors have not paid yet PRMC and Orr Honda both were $2,500 dollar sponsors.
Last, the City of Paris total income was 6,522.92 and the total expenses was $10,503.00.
Mr. Godwin stated that the Air Show was bigger than we anticipated but it turned out
really well. We had a debriefing about a week after the event to discuss what we can
improve on next year.
5. Update on the PEDC subcommittee.
Paula Portugal stated that the subcommittee is looking at other smaller cities to compare
airports. We are looking into updating our City Airport webpage and available hangar
space. We are also looking at private investors, tax abatements and sales tax rebates. Mr.
Godwin stated he spoke with Michael Paris and they are going to submit a report to
Council either September 12th or 26th. Mr. Godwin further stated our new hangars will
start development in 2017.
6 Requested items for future agendas. PEDC meeting updates, delinquent hangars,
discussing of development opportunities and use of existing hangars.
7. Meeting adjourned at 5:57 p. m.
