10/19/2016 MINUTESParis Public Library Advisory Board Meeting Minutes October 19, 2016 Opening: The regular meeting of the Paris Public Library Advisory Board was called to order at 4:00 p.m. Present: Board members present were Fran Neeley, Connie Dodd, Denise Kornegay, Daisy Harvill, Carol James, Michelle Cowling, and director Priscilla McAnally. Rebecca Umphrey was absent. I. Approval of Minutes The minutes of the previous meeting were unanimously approved as presented. II. New Business: A. Request for John Biggers mural loan for exhibition in Houston. The curator from the Allen Center Lobby Gallery in Houston contacted Priscilla about borrowing the mural. It will be labeled and insured for $200,000. The Gallery will pay for the transportation of the mural. The loan has been approved by the Paris City Manager John Godwin and Finance Director Gene Anderson. The Board suggested checking with the city attorney. The loan of the mural was approved by the Board pending the city attorney's opinion. III. Old Business: None IV. Presentations A. Budget Report. No report this month since we're at the beginning of the fiscal year. Next month's report will include the final 2015 -2016 report and the October 2016 report. B. Statistical Report. Month - Circulation and visits are both lower than last year. Circulation decreased 1.46 %, and visits decreased by 4.80 %. Year — Circulation and visits were both lower in FY 2015 -2016 than in FY 2014 -2015. Circulation decreased 6.42 %, and visits decreased 4.73 %. There were increases in the collection, downloadable audios, volunteer hours, interlibrary loans, downloadable music, and streaming music. V. Friends of the Library: No report from the Friends this month. VI. Director's Remarks Expendable fund balance - $75,846 Non - expendable fund balance - $90,804 Next meeting — November 16.
