ORDINANCE NO. 2000-026
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, ABANDONING THE CITY'S INTEREST IN THAT
STREET RIGHT-OF-WAY KNOWN AS 31ST STREET N.E., BEGINNING
AT THE DEAD END OF 31ST STREET N.E., NORTH TO THE SOUTH
BOUNDARY LINE OF LOOP 286 N.E.; DECLARING NO NECESSITY OR
NEED OF SAID STREET FOR CITY USE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS
AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL
OTHER ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City Council of the City of Paris
that a street right-of-way beginning at the dead end of 31st Street N.E., north to the south
boundary line of Loop 286 N.E., is of no use as a street to the City of Paris or to its citizens, and
the City Council so finds; and,
WHEREAS, on June 12, 2000, the City Council conducted a public hearing regarding the
abandonment of the aforesaid right-of-way, at which time any and all interested citizens were
afforded the opportunity to speak for or against said abandonment; and,
WHEREAS, following said hearing, the City Council found and determined that the
abandonment of said right-of-way was in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris;
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS; PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all
things approved.
Section 2. That the street known as 31st Street N.E., beginning at the dead end of 31st
Street N .E., north to the south boundary line of 31st Street N .E., described in Exhibit A, attached
hereto, is found to be of no use as a street to the City of Paris or its citizens; therefore, the City's
interest in such right-of-way is hereby abandoned and the aforesaid street is for all purposes
considered by the City as closed.
Section 3, That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
expressly repealed.
Section 4. That this ordinance shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
