2000-055-ORD PROVIDING SECTION 28-40 OF CODE OF ORDINANCES BE AMENDED BY REVISING SIGN PERMIT FEES ORDINANCE NO, 2000-055 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT SECTION 28-40 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING THE SIGN PERMIT FEES; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT TO EXCEED $2,000.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, finds and determines that significant costs are incurred by the City in processing permits and performing inspections under the City's Sign and Billboard Ordinance; and, WHEREAS, the City Council deems it appropriate to assess a portion of those significant costs on the parties seeking permits and inspections pursuant to said Sign and Billboard Ordinance; and, WHEREAS, the Texas Local Government Code, the City Charter, and the Constitution and laws of the State of Texas authorize the City to assess fees and costs incident to the permitting and inspecting of signs and billboards within the City; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things approved, Section 2. That Section 28-40 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows: "Sec. 28-40. Fees. "For the erection or placing of all signs for which a permit is required by this article, the following schedule of permit fees shall apply: "(1) Up to fifty (50) square feet in area, , , , , , , , , , , , , , $25,00 "(2) Fifty-one (51) to one hundred (100) square feet in area """."",.""""""""""" $50,00 "(3) One hundred one (101) to two hundred (200) square feet in area """""',',,""""'" $75,00 "(4) Over two hundred (200) square feet in area. , , . , . , $100.00" Section 3. That any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $2,000.00, and each and every day's continuance of any violation of the above-enumerated section shall constitute and be deemed a separate offense, Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed, Section 5.
