ORDINANCE NO. 99-075
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT
THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING
SUBSECTION (b) OF SECTION 2-35 OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR A REDUCTION
IN NUMBER OF YEARS OF SERVICE REQUIRED FOR ELIGIBILITY FOR SERVICE
RETIREMENT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF
DECEMBER 1, 1999.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
Section 1. That Subsection (b) of Section 2-35 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of
Paris, Paris, Texas, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows:
"Sec. 2-35. Optional benefit package - Generally.
"
"(b) Eligibility for service retirement, Any member, after one (1) year
from the effective date of membership, shall be eligible for service retirement at
any age who has completed twenty (20) years of creditable service with this City
or who has attained the age of sixty (60) years and has completed at least ten (10)
years of creditable service with participating municipalities which have adopted the
plan provisions of this section, or who has become eligible for service retirement
under any other applicable provision of Title 110B, section 61.001 et seq" of the
Revised Civil Statutes. "
Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly
repealed.
Section 3. This ordinance shall become effective on December 1, 1999.
