SUBJECT: SURPLUS FIRE TRAILER

BACKGROUND: In 2016 Hopkins County gave our fire department a used 24 -foot trailer they
had used for Haz Mat purposes. We are converting it into use for a larger dive team trailer. As a
result, our old 2005 enclosed dive trailer is out of date and is no longer needed.
STATUS OF ISSUE: The City of Sulphur Springs has asked for our old trailer for use as a
clown trailer for their fire prevention program. In order to gift this item to Sulphur Springs, the
city council needs to declare the old trailer surplus fire equipment, and authorize the city
manager to complete a transfer to another fire department for firefighting, rescue, or fire
prevention purposes.
BUDGET: NA.
RECOMMENDATION: Declare old trailer surplus equipment, and authorize the city manager
to transfer it to the Sulphur Springs Fire Department
