ORDINANCE NO. 99-033 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF PARIS BE AMENDED BY ADDING ARTICLE X TO CHAPTER TWO, SECTIONS 2-500 THROUGH 2-549; ESTABLISHING AN ORDINANCE COMMISSION; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF APRIL 12, 1999. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS: Section 1. That the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, be amended by adding Article X to Chapter Two, Sections 2-500 through 2-549, establishing an Ordinance Commission, to read as follows: "ARTICLE X "ORDINANCE COMMISSION "Sec. 2-500. Created; composition. "There is hereby created and established within and for the City an Ordinance Commission, composed of seven (7) members, whose offices are hereby created. "Sec. 2-501. Qualifications and appointment of members. "The members of the Ordinance Commission shall be resident citizens and qualified voters of the City, all of whom shall be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council. Regular appointment of members shall be made on the first regular Council meeting in June of each year. "Sec. 2-502. Terms of members; filling vacancies. "Members of the Ordinance Commission shall be appointed to serve for terms of two (2) years. All vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the Council as soon as practical. "Sec. 2-503. Members to serve without compensation. "The members of the Ordinance Commission shall serve without compensation. "Sec. 2-504. Selection of Chairperson. "The chairperson of the Ordinance Commission shall be selected on the first regular meeting in July of each year by the members of the Commission. A member may serve consecutive terms as the chairperson.
