REGULAR MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
WEDNESDAY MAY 08, 2013
12:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
1. The Historic Preservation Meeting was called to order at 12:12 p.m. by Ben Vaughan, Vice
Chairman.
A. The following members were present: Ben Vaughan, Nancy Anderson, Britin
Bostick, Douglas Cox, and David Stewart.
B. Chairman Paul Denney and Commissioner Laurie Redus were absent.
C. Also present: Joey Sleeper, Historic Preservation Officer and Robert Talley,
Code Enforcement Supervisor
2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. (April 10, 2013)
Motion was made by Nancy Anderson and seconded by Britin Bostick to approve
the minutes as written. The motion carried 5-0
3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness:
A. No cases to consider.

Commission member desires to discuss and consider separately any item appearing on the

4. Discussion of and possible action regarding the following structures considered by code
inspectors to be in violation of Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, entitled "Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and
Structures," to determine whether such buildings or structures can be rehabilitated and
designated on the National Register of Historic Places, as a recorded Texas Historic
Landmark, or as historic property as designated by the City Council of the City of Paris.

Code Enforcement recommendation to repair structure in lieu of demolition.
B. 550 SW 3'
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
C. 436 & 440 SW 2ND
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
D. 327 SW 7TH
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
E. 319 SW 7TH
Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.

Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.

Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.

Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.

Code Enforcement recommendation to demolish structure.
Motion was made by Britin Bostick and seconded by Douglas Cox to recommend
repair of 2112 W. Kaufman St (item 4A) and demolition of the remaining structures
to the Building and Standards Commission. The motion carried 5-0.
5. Update on Preservation Month activity: Britin Bostick
Commissioner Bostick outlined National Preservation Month activities to occur
Friday May 10 through Sunday May 12.
6. Future Agenda Items
With no future items to discuss, the Commissioners relocated to 15 East Plaza for a
presentation of grants to Colton Wicks, Paris Optical Eye Care, for renovations
completed on the property. No action was taken.
7. Adjournment
With no other matters to discuss, a motion to adjourn was made by Ben Vaughan
and seconded by David Stewart. The motion carried 5-0.
Meeting adjourned at 12:36 p.m.
