Call meeting to order- Matt Coyle at 4:32 p.m.
Citizens Forum: Pastor Rob Spencer, pastor of First United Methodist Church presented a plan for
improvements of the parking lot on the First United Methodist Church. Park ideas include walking
track, splash Park. Rob shared a plan drawing from friend Dan Wardlow. Board unanimously
supports the planned improvements, and gave support. Matt Coyle mentioned rotary club potential
fundraising. Option for restroom on the site is still under discussion.
Approval of minutes - motion to approve as presented, Nancy Waldrum, seconded by Karie
Raulston, Motion carried 4 -0
Coordinator report
A. Texas Capital Fund -Cheri reported where the sidewalk projects are that the City of Paris is
applying for. South Main, Lamar Avenue, and 1St NW. Matt Coyle stated he would help with letters
of support for the area on South Main.
B. Carolyn Hicks has taken a new position with another hospital in the Dallas area. She is working
on getting a trash receptacle or bench donated from PRMC before she left.
C. Festival of pumpkins planning is on track. Vendors are signing up. Kid's games are sponsored
and the event is taking shape. The festival website is up and running and we are working on
keeping it up to date with contest, schedules and applications maps and events.
D. Holiday in Paris planning is almost complete. There is a brochure going to be passed out at the
Festival of Pumpkins.
Committee Reports
A. Organization- Update from Cheri- Jill Drake and Ashlea Mattoon met in Jill's office and went
over the work plan and prioritized and combined some items. One of the goals is to work on
committee membership.
B. Design —Nancy Waldrum reported that she and Cheri are meeting on October 10th at 11:00 a.m.
followed by a meeting with the design committee. She is holding the meeting at her house to
review work plan with group.
C. Promotions -Kane Raulston- Met with the group for a meet and greet. Heard a lot of their ideas,
and is excited about what the committee already does, and is interested in new things coming.
D. ER — Matt Coyle- No meeting this month, but is going to set one up for October.
F. Chamber report - Becky Semple: Chaparral Square dancers for the 19th year, Shop Local 10K
promotion starts on October 26. Holiday in Paris planning in progress. Roxton Heritage Days to
be held on Saturday Sept 21. Free Historic Sites day was a huge success with 82 people visiting the
Maxey House and Museum.
Future agenda item
Workshop for work plans review postponed to later date.
