Call meeting to order- Matt Coyle at 4:25 p.m.
2. Role taken. Quorum established.
3. Citizens Forum: Cheri Bedford reported that the Gordons were unable to provide the
Board with the information requested by this date. Will attend the next meeting.
4. Approval of minutes of October 15, 2013 meeting and October 23, 2013 Special Meeting -
motion to approve minutes with correction of spelling of member Beatrice Ardila's name by
Ashlea Mattoon and second by Karie Raulston. Motion carried 5 -0.
5. Coordinator report:
A. Pumpkin patch: Over 400 volunteer hours were logged. $1900 profit to the Christmas lights
fund. A big thank you to the City of Paris Traffic and Sanitation Dept, City of Paris
Engineering, Planning and Development and Tabitha Blackburn and Melissa Gordon of
Paris Baby for planning, organizing and managing the Patch.
B. Holiday in Paris: Amendment to brochure — holidayinparistexas.com The Nov 9 tree lighting
was successful and may need to consider having children's events prior to 4pm next year because
so many families were downtown taking photos etc before 4pm. Christmas bazaar on Saturday
Nov 23 at civic center. Small business Saturday is the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Christmas
parade on Dec 7 Billion Dollar Blues Band will play. On Dec 14, Santa Paws for a Cause will
benefit local charities — Salvation Army and Humane Association. Dog parade and other dog -
related children's activities. Prize for best float — non - motorized. Wassail Fest on Dec 14 as well.
Last year, 10 businesses participated. Participants must stop at 6 businesses in order to be eligible
for give away basket.
C. Need to check calendars for Board training in Jan 2014. Second Tuesday looks good.
Committee Reports
A. Organization- Jill Drake reported that Jane Adams has joined the committee and Swati
Prakash will consider joining. Volunteers were recruited for the Nov 9 tree lighting. C'tee
has decided to be the lead in coordinating the volunteers for Festival of Pumpkins to help
take the pressure off of Cheri Bedford.
B. Design —tabled
C. Promotions- Karie Raulston reported the c'tee met with Paris Downtown Assoc this month
and worked on plans for Wassail Fest, Paws for a Cause and Valentine's Day.
D. ER — Ashlea Mattoon reported that the c'tee met to discuss the BIG. Ctee members
answered questions re the development and implementation of the application. The c'tee
recognizes some problems with the BIG and will discuss revisions based upon the lessons
learned in the first year of implementation. Also, Janet Green was unable to purchase 22/24
Clarksville St due to title issues. Therefore, the $5,000 award for that property will be added
back into the amount available for the next cycle.
E. HPC — Cheri Bedford reported that Melissa Wickersham's proposal to move Creative Candy
to Lamar Ave was approved.
F. Chamber report — Becky Semple reported that Trolley tours will be available Dec 7. Morning
tours will be a history of Paris and afternoon tours will be churches (6). Refreshments at the
Gallery afterwards - $5pp. Dec 14 — carriage rides available during Wassail Fest 2 -5 pm.Paris
Arts Alliance is sponsoring the carriage rides with $750 donation. Dec 17 $10,000 Shop
Local drawing will be held at 7pm.Music /Santa. Bobby Walters is entertaining the idea of a
Ghost /History Tour as a fundraiser for PCT — lots of enthusiasm for the idea. Chamber will
visit Jefferson and Clarksville Ghost Tours to get ideas.
7. Time change for Board Meeting- tabled until all members are present to provide input
8. Future agenda item: Discussion re Bathrooms as part of the new park at the church. Cleonne
Drake commented that we should keep focused on the park the Methodist Church is building as it
will be a wonderful addition to our downtown.
9. Motion to adjourn at 5;10 p.m., made by Ashlea Mattoon, second by Jill Drake.
Motion carried 5 -0
