The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met in regular session Wednesday, May 23,
2007, at 4 o'clock at the library. Chairman Bill Kennedy called the meeting to order.
Other members in attendance were Jackie Alsobrook, Deborah Hatley, Hilda Mallory,
Eddie Poole, Jake Street, and Fran Neeley. Also in attendance were Priscilla McAnally,
Library Director, and Amanda Green, Friends of the Library President.
The minutes of the April meeting were approved as submitted.
The board agreed to take approximately $5,000 from the expendable fund to replace an
existing air conditioning unit for the library.
Long -range library plan samples were distributed for board members to view and discuss
at next month's meeting.
There were no unusual items in the budget for April. The statistical report showed a
decrease from last year in both circulation and library visits. Volunteer hours increased
by 24%. There were $298 in memorial contributions. There were 18 children's
programs with 274 children and 67 adults in attendance.
Friends of the Library President Amanda Green reported a succesful spring luncheon.
Plans for next fall's luncheon are being made. Author Bill Bowman will be the featured
speaker, and he will donate a percentage of the proceeds from sales of his book at the
luncheon to the library. The Friends group is helping to fund part of the summer library
reading program for children by purchasing prizes for participating children. The group
also purchased and replaced tile for the library entrance.
Six pallets of grass were installed by the city Parks Department. Ms. McAnally has
contracted with Sanchez Lawn Care for grounds care for the library.
The online Book Club displayed on the Paris Public Library's website has been a success
with 761 patrons accessing information.
The chairman adjourned the meeting at 4:25 p.m.
