Regular Meeting Minutes
19 June 2008
The Paris Public Library Advisory Board met Thursday afternoon, June 19, 2008, at 4 o'clock in the Library
Gallery. Attending were Bill Kennedy, Debbie Anderson, Deborah Hatley, Eddie Poole, Audrey Lakes, Hilda
Mallory, Linda Vandiver, Jackie Alsobrook, and Library Director Priscilla McAnally. Chairman Kennedy
called the meeting to order.
Minutes from the previous meeting were approved as printed.
Eddie Poole made a motion to accept the proposed Library Building Policy with corrections. Second was made
by Audrey Lakes. The motion carried.
Eddie Poole made a motion to accept the proposed Volunteer /Community Service Policy with a second by
Jackie Alsobrook. Motion carried.
Hilda Mallory made a motion to accept the proposed Patron Conduct Policy with a second by Deborah Hatley.
Motion carried.
The Director reported that $12,000 had been spent on books in the past month. The statistical report reflects a
significant drop in the number of library cards. This is due to a purge of inactive patron accounts.
The summer programs are going well. The Friends photography program will occur in July with the children's
best photos to be displayed in an art show the last week of the month.
The property survey has established that the shrubs on the south side of the property do belong to the Library,
and they will be taken out and replaced with something more appropriate as soon as can be arranged. New signs
have been placed on the restroom doors to help clarify for children which is the girls and which is the boys.
The Director reported on the Leadership Etiquette seminar she and Judy Vickers attended in Quitman.
There being no further business, the chairman adjourned the meeting at 4:30 p.m.
