REGULAR MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11, 2012
12:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett,
Chairman at 12:00 p.m.
A. The following members were present:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman
Douglas Cox
Ben Vaughan
Nancy Anderson
Britin Bostick
David Stewart
B. The following members were absent:
None
C. Also present Jeanna Scott, Historic Preservation Officer; and Robert Talley, Code
Enforcement Supervisor.
2. Approval of minutes from previous meeting. (March 14, 2012)
Motion was made by Nancy Anderson, seconded by Britin Bostick to approve the
meeting minutes for March 14, 2012.
3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness:
A. 208 South Main Street — Bois D' Are Restaurant — Jeanna Scott, Historic
Preservation Officer presented the petition. Ms. Scott stated Mr. Coyle wants to
place two signs that will be located on the front door and on the large glass. Mr.
Coyle also wants to affix a screening material to the window that is located in the
kitchen to help screen that area from view, there is a photo attached of the
proposed screening material. Commissioners requested clarification on whether
the material will be attached directly to the glass. If this is a shading device, and
does not attach directly to the glass then it does not fall under the HPC's
jurisdictions. Motion was made by Paul Denney, seconded by Douglas Cox to
approve the signage only. Motion carried 7 -0.

4. Discussion of and possible action regarding the following structures considered by code
inspectors to be in violation of Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the
City of Paris, Paris, Texas, entitled "Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and
Structures, " to determine whether such buildings or structures can be rehabilitated and
designated on the National Register of Historic Places, as a recorded Texas Historic
Landmark, or as historic property as designated by the City Council of the City ofParis:
A. 1630 Pine Bluff
B. 1075 E. Hearon
C. 2111 Jackson Street
D. 1950 Hubbard
E. 717 8`f' Street S. E.
Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Nancy Anderson to send all
structures to the Building and Standards Commission for demolition since they
cannot be rehabilitated nor do they have significant historical value. Motion
carried 7 -0.
7. Future agenda items. There were none.
8. Meeting adjourned at 12:1.5 p.m.
