SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MONDAY, FEBRUARY 28, 2011
4:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett,
Chairman at 4:02 p.m.
A. The following members were present:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Douglas Cox
Ben Vaughan
Paul Denney, Vice- Chainnan
Jerry Raper
Matt Coyle
B. The following members were absent:
Susan Scholz, Secretary
C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff; and Rhonda Rogers, Council Member.
2. Approval of minutes from previous minutes. (February 14, 2011)
Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Matt Coyle to approve the minutes for
the February 14, 201.1 meeting. Motion carried 6 -0.
3. Consideration of'and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness:
A. 109150 Street S.E. — Alex Pickering, Scotts Custom Signs, presented the petition.
Ms. Pickering stated they will be applying the same sign on this business as Jerry
Coyle has installed on his glass. Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by
Paul Denney to approve the COA. Motion carried 6 -0.
4. Consideration of and action on the following Tax Exemptions:
A. 9 East Plaza — Artesia Enterprises, LLC
B. S East Plaza — Artesia Enterprises, LLC
Motion was made by Paul Denney, seconded by Douglas Cox to approve the
Tax Exemptions for item 4A and 4B. Motion carried 6 -0.
S. Report, discussion and possible action on proposed changes to the Sign Ordinance
regarding the Historic District.
Commissioners requested further information regarding other cities ordinances. Bring
back at future meeting. Not action taken.
6. Future agenda items. There were none.
7. Meeting adjourned at 4:36 p.m.
