SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MONDAY, MARCH 28, 201.1.
4:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett,
Chairman at 4:00 p.m.
A. The following members were present:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Douglas Cox
Susan Scholz, Secretary
Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman
Jerry Raper
B. The following members were absent:
Matt Coyle
Ben Vaughan
C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff; Shawn Napier, Director of
Engineering, Planning and Development; and Rhonda Rogers, Council Member.
2. Approval of minutes from previous minutes. (March 9, 2011)
Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Jerry Raper to approve the minutes for
the March 9, 2011 meeting. Motion carried 4 -0.
3. Consideration of and action on the_ following Certificate of Appropriateness:
A. 207 S Church Street — First Baptist Church — Glenn Gamble presented the
petition. Mr. Gamble stated they are proposing to paint the masonry on building
"C ", the color will be HC -47 Brookline Beige. They will paint a section and see
if the color is a match with the main building. The church will also be replacing
the glass in the windows with Low E glass. The mullions will be glued to
the outside of each window. These windows will not open. Motion was made by
Jerry Raper, seconded by Susan Scholz to approve the COA as presented. Motion
carried 4 -0.
Paul Denney arrived at 4:09 pm.
4. Report, discussion and possible action on nominating historical signs. Commissioners
reviewed power point presentation discussing possible sign nominations. Motion was
made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Jerry Raper to nominate The Tropic Restaurant sign,
100E Lodge and entrance arrow signs, House Jewelry sign, American Legion sign, and
all three sign structures only located at I" Street S.E. and Lamar Avenue. Motion carried
5 -0.

7. Meeting adjourned at 4:26 p.m.
