01/20/2011 MINUTESMINUTES REGULAR MEETING AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD CITY OF PARIS — CITY HALL COUNCIL CHAMBERS 107 E. KAUFMAN STREET PARIS, TEXAS THURSDAY, JANUARY 20, 2011 5:30 O'CLOCK PM 1. The Airport Advisory Board meeting was called to order by Chairman Jack Ashmore at 5:30 p.m. A. The following members were present: Jack Ashmore Billy Copeland Ray Ball Vic Ressler Fred Williams Jerry Coyle B. The following members were absent: Steve Gilbert C. Also present was Shawn Napier, Airport Director; Jeanna Scott, City Staff; Davis White, Ex- Officio; Edwin. Pickle, Council Member; and Jerry Richey Airport Manager. 2. Approval of minutes, from previous meeting. (October 21, 2010) Motion was made by Ray Ball, seconded by Jerry Coyle to approve the minutes for the October 21, 2010 meeting. Motion carried 6 -0. 3. Presentation, discussion and possible action on hosting an event for East .Texas Broadcasting at the airport. East Texas Broadcasting is group of 8 radio stations that cover from Mt. Pleasant to Paris. The fastest growing music scene right now is the Texas red dirt music played on country stations. They are currently looking for a facility that can host the Red Dirt Music Festival that will be an all day event and pull 3,000 to 4,000 people. Criteria to host this event will be the ability to sell beer, because the event is sponsored by beer companies. East Texas Broadcasting will be responsible for all infrastructure, they will do massive advertising campaign for the event on all 8 radio stations, including news paper other media. The proposed date for this event is June 2011. Chairman Jack Ashmore appointed Jerry Coyle and Ray Ball to a sub - committee to gather further information and bring back findings to the Airport Advisory Board. Motion was made by Billy Copeland, seconded by Vic Ressler to table this item. Motion carried 6 -0. 4. Presentation, discussion of and possible action on holding an auto cross at the airport by Sports Car Club of America (SCCA). Brad Maxey, Regional Executive for Sport Car Club of America, came to address concerns of the Airport Advisory Board regarding hosting another auto cross at the airport. Mr. Maxey stated the SCCA would be happy to rent the airport for $500.00 to cover damages that could occur during the race. They are proposing a two day event in May 2011, which will draw 180, participants. The advisory board expressed concerns over the amount of damage that was done at the last event. The rental fee would not come close to covering further damage. No action taken. 5. Request items for . future agendas. Report from sub - committee regarding hosting East Texas Broadcasting event.
