03/21/2011 MINUTESMINUTES REGULAR MEETING BUILDING AND STANDARDS COMMISSION MONDAY, MARCH 21, 2011 4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. 1. Vicki Ballard acting Chairperson called the Building and Standards Commission meeting to order at 4:02 P.M. A. The following members were present: Johnny Norris Vicki Ballard Wendell Moore Lee Ann Barbee Ryan Lassiter Chris Brown B. The following members were absent: None C. Also present was Robert Talley, Code Enforcement Officer. 2. Approval of previous meeting minutes. (February 21, 2011) Motion was made by Johnny Norris, seconded by Wendell Moore to approve the minutes for the February 21, 2011 meeting. Motion carried unanimously. 3. Public Hearing to consider presentations by City of Paris Code Inspectors and owner(s) and/or lien holder(s) of the below properties who have been given notice of a violation of Article III of Chapter 7 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, entitled ASubstandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures @: A. 11.316 th Street S.E.; Lot 5 and N Part of 5 -B, City Block 1.63 -A — Motion was made by Vicki Ballard, seconded by Chris Brown, to allow 90 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 90 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. B. 1141 6th Street S.E.; Lot 5 -A and Part of 5 -B, City Block 163 -A — Motion was made by Wendell Moore, seconded by Johnny Norris to allow 14 days to secure and 90 days to repair. If the property in not secured in 14 days and repaired in 90 days the City may secure, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. C. 724 Cedar; Lot 4, Block 6, Gibbons Park Addition - Motion was made by Chris Brown, seconded by Lee Ann Barbee, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. D. 420 and 424 6th Street N.E.; Lot 2, City Block 64 - Motion was made by Wendell Moore, seconded by Lee Ann Barbee, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. E. 427 6th Street N.E.; Lot 22, City Block 61 - Motion was made by Johnny Norris, seconded by Ryan Lassiter, to allow 90 days to repair. If the property is not repair in 90 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. F. 10047 tb Street N.E.; Lot 2 -C, Block 4, Pickard Addition - Motion was made by Lee Ann Barbee, seconded by Vicki Ballard, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. G. 838 5th Street N.W.; Lot 9, City Block 99 - Motion was made by Vicki Ballard, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. H. 257 12th Street N.W.; Lot 1.4, City Block 48 - Motion was made by Vicki Ballard, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. I. 1367 West Houston; Lot 1, City Block 190 - Motion was made by Vicki Ballard, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. J. 23318 th Street N.W.; Lot 4 -B, Block A, Westview Addition - Motion was made by Chris Brown, seconded by Lee Ann Barbee, to allow 90 days to repair or demolish. If the property is not demolished in 90 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. K. 1818 West Henderson; Lot 2 and 3 -A; City Block 235 -A - Motion was made by Wendell Moore, seconded by Chris Brown, to allow 90 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 90 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. L. 2527 Graham; Lot West Part of 4 and 5; Block 2, Sperry's 3rd Addition - Motion was made by Chris Brown, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 90 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 90 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. M. 585 27th Street N.W.; Lot 1 and 2; Sperry's 1St Addition - Motion was made by Lee Ann Barbee, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 90 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 90 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. N. 2319 West Austin; Lot 1.2 and 13; Block B; College Addition - Motion was made by Wendell Moore, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. O. 421 8th Street S.W.; Lot 18, City Block 131- Motion was made by Wendell Moore, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. P. 943 West Sherman; Lot 3, City Block 133 - Motion was made by Wendell Moore, seconded by Johnny Norris, to allow 30 days to demolish. If the property is not demolished in 30 days the City may demolish, with a $1,000 per day civil penalty. Motion carried unanimously. 4. Meeting adjourned at 4:22 P.M.
