SPECIAL MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2009
12:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett,
Chainnan.
A. The following members were present:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Douglas Cox
Ben Vaughan
Jerry Raper
Matt Coyle
B. The following members were absent:
Susan Scholz, Secretary
Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman
C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff.
2. Discussion of and possible action of the Historic Preservation Commissions possible
participation in the historic street lights to be placed around the Maxey House.
Greg Whalin with Holophane presented the new LED street lightning system to the
commission. Commissioners discussed making a contribution to the installation of the
new street lights for the Maxey House.
Motion was made by Jerry Raper, seconded by Douglas Cox to contribute $500.00 per
light fixture not to exceed five light fixtures to the Maxey House. Motion carried 5 -0.
3. Discussion of and possible action on nominations for the Visionaries Award.
Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Douglas Cox to nominate "The Friends
of the Maxey House" for the Visionaries Award. Motion carried 5 -0.
4. Report, discussion and possible action on Fagade grants.
Commissioners discussed raising the facade grants awarded to $1,000. The
commissioners also discussed recipients providing after pictures of work done before
dispersing grant money. Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by Ben Vaughan
to raise the grant allocation to $1,000. Motion carried 5 -0.
