REGULAR MEETING
CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 28 2009
4:00 O'CLOCK P.M.
1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett,
Chairman.
A. The following members were present:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Douglas Cox
Ben Vaughan
Jerry Raper
B. The following members were absent:
Matt Coyle
Susan Scholz, Secretary
Paul Denney, Vice - Chairman
C. Also present was Jeanna Scott, City Staff.
2. Approval of minutes fi-om previous meetings. (September 9, 2009)
Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Douglas Cox to approve the minutes for
the September 9, 2009 meeting. Motion carried 4 -0.
3. Consideration ofand action on the.following Certificates ofAppropriateness:
A. 340 Bonham Street — Glenn Wark, contractor, presented the petition. Mr. Wark
stated the property owners want to paint the aluminum trim around the window and
door using the color HC -67 (Clinton Brown). Mr. Wark is also requesting permission
to remove the attached Whitaker Pawn Shop sign and all fixtures. Ben Vaughan
stated we have already approved the installation of a wood door. Mr. Wark stated the
door is very expensive and the owner is unable to install the door at this time. Mr.
Wark further stated the owner is trying to make the outside look better. The
commission reminded Mr. Wark that there is a fagade grant available to businesses in
the district to help with the cost. Motion was made by Douglas Cox, seconded by
Jerry Raper to deny the painting of the trim and to approve the removal of the sign
and its hardware. Motion carried 4 -0.
4. Request items for future agendas. Report and discussion on Facade Grants. Discussion
and possible action on participation in the historic street lights around the Maxey House.
Discussion and possible action on nominating a visionary award recipient.
8. The meeting adjourned at 4:23 p.m.
