08/24/2009 MINUTESMINUTES REGULAR MEETING CITY OF PARIS HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION MONDAY, AUGUST 24, 2009 4:00 O'CLOCK P.M. 1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Arvin Starrett, Chairman. A. The following members were present: Arvin Starrett, Chairman Paul Denney, Vice- Chairman Susan Scholz, Secretary Douglas Cox Jerry Raper Matt Coyle Ben Vaughan B. The following members were absent: None C. Also present were Jeanna Scott, City Staff. 2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. (August 12, 2009) Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Paul Denney to approve the minutes for the August 12, 2009 meeting. Motion carried 7 -0. Motion was made by Susan Scholz, seconded by Matt Coyle to recuse Paul Denney and Arvin Starrett from Item 3a. Motion carried 5 -0. 3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness: A. 322 Lamar Avenue — Paul Denney — Mr. Denney stated this is the sign for the Food Pantry sponsored by the First United Methodist Church. The sign will be 8 foot by 2 foot and attached to the west side of the southeast building. Motion was made by Matt Coyle, seconded by Douglas Cox. Motion carried 5 -0. Motion was made by Ben Vaughan, seconded by Matt Coyle to return Paul Denney and Arvin Starrett to the meeting. Motion carried 5 -0. 4. Request items for future agendas. Report on demolition by neglect from Robert Talley. Report from Historic Preservation Officer. Design Guidelines. The meeting adjourned at 4:18 p.m. APPROVED THIS 9TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 2009.
