PARIS, TEXAS WEDNESDAY, JUNE 8, 2005 12:00 O'CLOCK P.M. 1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Acting Chairman Brian Wear at 12:00 P.M. A. The following members were present: Barbara Wilson, Vice Chairman Ann Rodgers, Secretary Sue Lancaster Claudia Hunt Paul Denney Jerry Raper B. The following members were absent: Arvin Starrett Alternate: Becki Norment C. Also present was Bethany Golden, Asst. Historic Preservation Officer /Main Street Coordinator. 2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion to approve the minutes of the April 25, 2005, May 11, 2005, and May 21, 2005, meetings was made by Sue Lancaster, seconded by Ann Rogers. Motion carried 6 -0. Barbara Wilson arrived. 3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: A. 1161st Street S.E. - Casey Rose and Walt Brown. No one was present to speak on this item. Claudia Hunt requested the procedure for notifying applicants to appear on their applications. No action was taken to allow applicants time to appear. B. 123 S. Main - G. 1. Hodges by Richard Hunt. Motion to approve the application, with the exception of paint colors, was made by Paul Denny, seconded by Sue Lancaster. Motion carried 7 -0. 4. Consideration of and action on granting the following requests for facade grants: A. 123 S. Main - G. I. Hodges by Richard Hunt. Claudia Hunt recused herself from this item. Motion to approve the grant was made by Barbara Wilson, seconded by Jerry Raper. Motion carried 7 -0. Motion to return Claudia Hunt to the meeting was made by Sue Lancaster, seconded by Ann Rogers. Motion carried 7 -0. 5. Consideration of and possible action on amendments to the proposed Design Guidelines for the Downtown Historic District as the same relates to canopies. Motion to omit "horizontal" from Item c. was made by Barbara Wilson, seconded by Paul Denny. Motion carried 7 -0. 6. Consideration ofand possible action on amendments to the proposed Design Guidelines for the Downtown Historic District as the same relates to fenestrations and openings. Bethany Golden advised that the Historic Preservation Officer had requested that the Commission table this item until both she and Arvin Starrett could be present. Motion to table was made by Sue Lancaster, seconded by Jerry Raper. Motion carried 7 -0. 7. Item 3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificates of Appropriateness: A. 116 1st Street S.E. - Casey Rose and Walt Brown. No one was present to speak on this item. Motion to table was made by Paul Denny, seconded by Ann Rogers. Motion carried 7 -0. 8. Item 7. Receipt of report from the Historic Preservation Officer. The Assistant HPO handed out the attached report. 9. Item 8. Request items from Board for future agendas. The Commission requested a discussion items on outside storage, awnings, and materials acceptable for fencing and boarding windows. 10. The meeting adjourned at 1:00.
