2000-02-16-Minutes 513 MINUTES OF THE PARIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REGULAR MEETING __ February 16, 2000 The Paris Economic Development Corporation met in a regular meeting on Wednesday, February 16, 2000, at 4:00 P.M., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, Paris, Texas. President Michael Rhodes called the meeting to order with the following boardmembers present: Jay Guest, and Donald Wall. Also, present were ex-officio boardmembers Bobby Walters, Chamber Chairman Paul Swasko, Mayor Charles Neeley, Executive Director Gary Vest, City Manager Michael E. Malone, and City Attorney Larry Schenk. President Michael Rhodes stated that the next item on the agenda was approval of the minutes from the previous meeting of the Paris Economic Development Corporation. He asked if there were any corrections or additions to the minutes of the previous meeting, and there were none. Boardmember Don Wall made a motion, seconded by Boardmember Jay Guest, that the minutes be approved as presented. The motion carried unanimously. President Rhodes asked Gene Anderson, Director of Finance, to give the financial report for the month of January. Mr. Anderson gave the financial report. Mr. Anderson stated that he would be glad to answer any questions concerning this -- report. Boardmember Jay Guest made a motion, seconded by Boardmember Don Wall, that the financial report be approved as presented. The motion carried unanimously. President Rhodes asked Gary Vest to give the Director's Report. Mr. Vest discussed responses received due to the advertising program and inquiries received through the Internet this past month. He reported that the City Council has approved a tax phase-in for Earthgrains on their expansion, the County Commissioners have approved it, and Bobby Walters will take it before the Paris Junior College Board at their next meeting. He mentioned that he and several others had attended a meeting today with TXU, and one of the items that was discussed was a day trip by the boardmembers to TXU prior to April 15th, to meet their new economic development employees. He said that we would like to have a reciprocal agreement with TXU where they would travel to Paris to see the area that they are helping us to market. He said that when we do this he would like to have an Allies Day sometime in May and invite several representatives from Texas Department of Economic Development and Northeast Texas Economic Development District. Chamber Chairman Paul Swasko discussed the hospitals reclassification progress, a future Lamar County Day in Washington, and the recent Beautification Forum. 514 President Rhodes asked if there was any other business and there being none he declared the board meeting adjourned.
